Fighting Holiday Flab
The holidays are fast approaching and it is
important to your health to begin and maintain a
structured exercise program. Most people gain
weight during the holidays. Approximately 5
pounds of fat or more can be gained from late
November (Thanksgiving) to early January (New
Year's) and if you're overweight to begin with,
the problem becomes even more severe.
Here are some tips for keeping fit during the
holidays:
* Schedule time in your daily planner for
physical activity along with business
engagements, social celebrations, and relaxation/
down time.
* Don't mentally berate yourself if you happen to
miss a scheduled workout. Don't blow it off
either. Instead of losing valuable workout time,
be flexible by exercising at a different time of
the day.
* Don't try and spend all day in the gym. An
intense 30 to 60 minute workout is all you need
to burn calories and build muscle.
* If you can't make it to the gym, invest in a
piece of home fitness equipment like a jump rope,
stationary bike or purchase an exercise video.
* Don't limit yourself to the gym or home. Dress
properly and participate in outdoor activities,
running, biking, cross country skiing, etc.
* Limit the size of your meals. Your food
choices should be no larger than the size of your
clenched fist or the palm of your hand
The holiday period usually lasts for about 6
weeks, but fat accumulation can last a lifetime.
So let's control our food intake during this
holiday season and remember "eat to live, not
live to eat."

| Jumpstart Your Motivation! | | | "Out of a strong desire grows the motivating forces that
cause men and women to embrace hopes, initiate plans,
develop courage, and stimulate their minds to act in
pursuit of a definite plan or purpose. There is nothing
behind desire except the impulse through which it may be
transformed into action. Anyone who is capable of
stimulating his or her own mind to produce intense desire
is capable also of the achievement of that desire".-- Napoleon Hill-- | | |
